Avril Lavigne high school pics linked from the Meatriarchy lead to an unfortunate throwing down of gauntlets around blogger high school pics. This is what I get for defending the honour of Avril.

Ahem. Let's make this formal:

I hereby triple-dog dare bloggers everywhere to post their high school year pictures from Grade 9 and 10!

Mine may or may not be safely boxed up in another city so I am not saying I am going to post these tomorrow or anything...

And then... Bruce Gottfred has gone and done it. Ok, time to find those highschool yearbooks.

And then... James Bond of the Canadian blogosphere, Paul Jané ups the ante with an high school photo with babes.

And then... A search of Flea Mansion turned up no high school yearbook photos so I will take Paul's route and post this Vancouver photo for the moment. It is a Canadian Gothic scene of the mid-80s. Skinny Puppy crashed our parties.

Next: see if I can get the parental units to bring my yearbooks with them this weekend.

Like you mine are about 3200km from me at this point.

But of course putting them on line would mean revealing my secret identity.

What a horrible idea! I'll do it, I have no shame. Gimme a few minutes...

Posted by: Bruce Gottfred at August 24, 2004 10:12 AM

I'll do it too. I'm not sure how many high-school-era pictures survive, though. They may be early twenties instead.

Heh, cheers for the link, Nick (and we're still waiting for your pictures).

'Ups the ante'? The point to posting high school yearbook photos is that they're embarrassing and humiliating. Photos with comely wenches do not qualify. The only way to 'up the ante' would be to post a type of photo that was even more shameful -- which is impossible because high school photos are the theoretical maximum.

I feel like I've arrived a costume party with an elaborately researched and designed costume of a 17th century Italian courtier, and everyone else just put on a baseball hat.

C'mon people! Humiliate yourselves!

Look, I can't help it if we didn't have yearbooks (thank Christ). The best that I can do is come up with a class picture, but I think that it may be difficult to be noticed in a crowd of 32 students. ;)

BTW, Nick, any chance that you might enlarge the picture above? I don't have my magnifying lens handy right now... ;)

Well * I * have yearbooks on request from parental units so my humilation should be forthcoming...

Posted by: Flea at August 25, 2004 07:59 AM

Where did you go to school? How could these schools in Europe not have yearbook photos? Don't they know that if you fail to remember the past, you're doomed to repeat it?

Posted by: Bruce Gottfred at August 25, 2004 08:16 AM

Hmmm. I know where the yearbooks are... but I'm not sure I want to give in to the terroristic demands of a 'triple-dog-dare' as that might encourage further acts of dareorrism.

This is a challenge, because my pictures are not easy to find.

I might have to cheat by a year.....
