Fitna

Spiegel asks, purely rhetorically you understand, whether Geert Wilders' film Fitna could have been banned.

That would explain why Wilders walks freely with no fear for his life and why every public and private broadcaster in the Netherlands has insisted on airing the film in a gesture of solidarity toward freedom of speech and expression.

Though I am pretty sure in that universe Spock has a goatee so I might be missing something.

I watched Fitna last night; the link is to a Hot Air post which will hopefully stay updated as the film is knocked off line by the usual suspects (death cultists, human rights advocates, you know the drill). I am also one of many people seeding Fitna at Mininova unless the beheading enthusiasts manage to put the screws - literally or metaphorically - to the torrents.

Fitna does not present anything new to the people who have been paying attention. September 11, Madrid, London and the rest alongside passages from the Necronomicon* Koran; the text which serves as their justification and how-to-guide. It is still a kick in the gut to see it all put together at once. This is the new normal, not so new any more. It is a shocking work not so much in itself as for the fact we increasingly are no longer allowed to talk about so much of what is being done to us. We cannot speak ill of the enemy even as they parade in our streets saying "Freedom go to hell" and "God bless Hitler" and the like. We cannot properly honour the dead; the sound of bodies hitting the pavement and the sight of candies thrown in celebration to "Palestinian" children censored by our media gatekeepers. We cannot even string together the news into a short film without "provoking" insane rage, blood curdling threats and the promise of censorship and criminal charges from our home grown fifth columnists.

Remember: If you tell the truth you are spreading hate. If you make snuff films - real snuff films - for the delectation of your co-religionists you are advancing a "religion of peace" and will be described as an activist by CNN, the BBC and all the rest. This is not 1984. Orwell did not have a word for what we have made of ourselves.

Next up: Ehsan Jami's film The Life of Mohammed is to be released April 20. If we are to believe what Muslims say they believe about their prophet, Mohammed married a six year old and took her to his bed when she was nine. To Muslims, these are the acts of the perfect man, only controversial if the rest of the world decides to make a film on the subject.

* To be fair, none of my copies of the Necronomicon advocate slaughtering non-Cthulhu cultists like sheep or taking captured women as sex slaves. Praise Cthulhu, he may eat you last first.

Update (and bumped: Fitna has been pulled from Liveleak due to death threats. If you show news footage. If you quote the Koran. If you do so in the name of freedom of speech. You will be threatened with death. The press will collude with the enemy.

And the worthy people will blame you even as your head is being cut from your neck.

This a mere twenty-four hours since Liveleak's valiant articulation to the right to freedom of expression. But can you blame them? (Actually, I do.) The police will not protect them, the Army is overseas and the Establishment a nest of traitors from top to bottom. I used to live in Manchester when it was still almost England.
