can i reccommend Suicide Club?
for the j-pop.

Suicide Club is almost certainly a must for a future list. The copy I rented gave my dvd-player indigestion so I only got to see the first ten minutes or so. Vexed again!

I've always been a fan of "The hills have eyes" myself...

Zoolander.
for the break-dance-fighting.
;-)

Kansas City Bomber, for the catfights

I would like to recommend "Videodrome". '80's era flick starring James Woods and the singer from "Blondie". Like "Brainstorm" it explores the nature of recording experiences and playing them back as new realities for the "viewer", but takes it another step further. If nothing else you get to see James Woods whip a TV set covered in human skin.

can't believe my alltime favorite Donnie Darko isn't on your lists--(but maybe it is on one of Jeff's.)
...for the smurf philosophy, tanget universes, pedophilic motivational speakers, and frank the satanic rabbit.
And...
Le Pacte de Loupe...for the ninja wolf women
The Bride with White Hair...for the, umm, hair
Versus...for the ninja zombies
Shaun of the Dead...for the chav zombies
Visitor Q...for the rock

i should say i have seen every single one of Flea's 40 picks and loved them all.
;)

Visitor Q is seriously obscure J-horror but a must for any Takashi Miike home film-fest... I confess I found it baffling and unsettling.

But not comedie noir?
I thought it was horribly funnie as a spoof of reality tv productions (which i detest).
hmm, i really am twisted.

Now Suicide Club is baffling and unsettling for me...i will never figure out the babychicks in the skintape room.

Lol; I rather liked Runaway in fact. And yep it a completists cyberpunk film.

What no Buckaroo Banzai?

umm, i think videodrome and buckaroo are on the protein wisdom master lists. ;)
