The last straw

FreeSaddam.jpg

That snapping sound marks the expiration of a camel asked to carry a moonbat too far. Bob Tarantino explains.

This weekend, I finally came across the first piece of "Free Saddam" graffiti in downtown Toronto; it is on the construction boards for the Canadian Opera Company's Four Seasons Centre, near Queen West and York (a couple of panels over from "Vote Democrate" (spelling in original) and "the only good bush is a SHAVED ONE!" (punctuation and emphasis in original).

Like Bob, I am uncertain of the importance of this latest idiocy. All I can say is that the moonbat who has spent the last few years spray-painting "Facist Post" on National Post newspaper boxes has at last figured out how to spell "fascist". Small mercies.

I remember getting high blood pressure form the "Facist Post" nonsense, and not just because of the spelling. There goes (I thought) a person who has not the faintest conception of what Fascism is. For them, the word is merely leftist accessorizing; a way of demonstrating their progressive street cred. I wouldn't have gotten so steamed if I hadn't listened to my grandparents' stories about living through the German occupation in WW II. Or watched my grandpa being startled while watching Star Wars, because the screech of a Tie-Fighter sounded like the bombing run of a Stuka bomber.

Demetrius,

You are not quite correct. For leftists today, "fascist" means "to the right of me." I agree with your unhappiness about the redefinition of the word, but that's what leftists do. Most of the charm of reading Marx comes from trying to figure out what the f* a particular word means in that particular paragraph.

I do hope you're correct, and the "facist Post" (in more formal English: "the Post isn't so*alist enough.") tagger has learned how to spell. Part of what I like about Toronto on my occasional visits is that it seems most Canadians are literate, not to mention erudite. Pity about the government, but it isn't all that intrusive for a short time.

BTW flea, your "questionable words" blacklist is acting up.

Yeah - Flea's comments won't accept the word "so*ialist" because of the word "ci*lis" - a comment spam thing, I believe.
