Team America: World Police
We hate conservatives, but we really f*cking hate liberals.
- Trey Parker and Matt Stone
Note: the following is not entirely spoiler-free.
You know you are in the right place when the first words to scroll across the screen are "Paris, France" and everybody starts laughing. Professor Chaos is calling it Team Awesome (via The Jawa Report).
All that and, thanks to Matrix cinematographer Bill Pope, the best fight scene ever filmed. There is something in Team America to (at least potentially) offend everybody. In this alone it stands as a triumph of contrarianism. It is a sad fact that anything calling itself Team Canada/quipe Canada would only be made because of a federal grant, be watched by nobody and produce a black hole of boredom more existentially offensive than anything Trey Parker or Matt Stone have ever thought or said. I am pleased to learn Andrew Sullivan enjoyed it ("The song, "Everyone has AIDS," deserves to win an Oscar. And I say that as someone just a couple hundred T-cells away from AIDS. F*ck yeah.")
A spoiler-riddled Slate film review argues the film is unrealistic because "Leftist actors learned from Vietnam not to cozy up to dictators." This is a shockingly stupid assertion on its face and only serves to underline Parker and Stone's assessment of the Film Actors Guild. In fact, it is precisely this ideological acuity that lends exacting realism to a marionette action movie (Let It Bleed was struck by the same thing).
There are many who will argue this film represents a balanced critique of contemporary American foreign policy, showing as it does some heavy-handed interventions by Team America. Is it possible our media elites have forgotten the lesson of Archie Bunker? For everybody who cannot wait for the soundtrack to be released, Scrutineer has thoughtfully posted lyrics to songs featured in the film.

Liberals are so immune to irony. The movie is actually satirizing the (Eurogentsia) idea of the bohunk Americans who destroy everything in their path.
I made a liberal friend watch South Park & he was horrified. "B-but the black man is a CHEF, & he's obsessed with SEX!" I'm like, dude, they're making FUN of that stereotype, not endorsing it. Yeesh.
(That said, it's not nearly as funny as SP the Movie)

This movie is so f*ckin funny! I was cracking up the whole time. Team America: World Police is to Micheal Moore what Farenheit 9/11 is to George Bush and I say he had one coming to him! The sountrack is one of the best I've come across in a long time as well. (America, F*ck Yeah!)
