Doom 3

Doom 3 reviewed and given a "Christian rating". Critique follows. My "neither hoof nor horn" Quakerism is not worried by the game's purported Satanic content as much as I am by the need to develop time management skills. It takes some doing to get my work done and escape into a realm of dark fantasy. Oh, and get a dedicated Doom 3 keyset.

I myself am waiting for the Second Coming. Of Halo 2 of course.

I'm with big al: I find the Marathon/Halo series much more fun and interesting than the Doom series. The Marathon games in particular have the best FPS storyline ever, hands down.
Regarding the "Satanic" content: My brand of Christianity is much less "squishy" than Flea's, but I don't have any particular problem with it either. Even if the imagery bothered me, the game is after all about kicking demonic ass, not worshipping the onscreen evil. It actually would make a nice multimedia prop for an over-the-top hellfire-and-brimstone sermon! ;-)

Doom 3 has an 18-year old rating in the UK. As to the satanic content, is that not something relatively subjective? In my opinion, the game is disturbing more because of its shock value, rather than anything else.
