Be it resolved

Be it resolved that Babylon 5 is the greatest science fiction television series of all time (Firefly comes close).

Hehe who ever gave you that idea?

You made a good point! Let us see if it can stand the seering heat of the comments section... :)

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...

(As much as I love B5--I taped the series, have the books, I'm buying the DVD's...they didn't have anything like the theme song to Firefly. Storylines were equally strong in both shows, but that song puts it over the top for me!)

I have to disagree, Flea. Although Babylon 5 is ambitious, it also is highly derivative, has poor individual episode plots, often mediocre dialogue, and often mediocre acting.

[Excuse me for a moment while I don my asbestos suit...]

I agree strongly.

Let's face it. "Doc" Smith did it first, and he did it better. Not to mention Campbell, Hamilton, Williamson, etc.

I enjoyed both shows, but my favorite sci-fi series of all time would probably be Stargate-SG1.

I'm with you, Flea.

The arc did make it difficult for occasional viewers, but the faithful were well-rewarded as the arc unfolded.

Firefly had so much potential ... but we'll never know how it would have developed. Stargate SG-1 is well-written (or at least the 5 seasons I've seen have been) and I enjoy it, but it doesn't involve me as Babylon 5 did.

Huzzah for the Flea. I'd agree with both assessments (and that both shows are, if I can overuse the cliche, light years ahead of the rest).

I've said this for years; nothing comes close, although I haven't seen Firefly. I just couldn't watch it, being a Dark Angel fan...

Dark Angel? Oh man I couldn't stand that show. For me, it proved that attractive eye candy is not sufficient to hold someone to a show.
