Ornithopter
I have been waiting for these contraptions.
Our neighboring planets may someday be explored by aircraft with no motors or jets or props, but with solar-powered wings that flap and soar like an eagle.
Leonardo da Vinci's ornithopter design remains the standard and plenty of aspiring aviators have had a go at ornithopter building but when I hear ornithopter I have Frank Herbert's Dune in mind. Ornithopter Zone is full of ornithopter goodness.
