Sofi Tukker - Benadryl

"Following the success of their latest hits so far - like Drinkee and Matadora - Sofi Tukker once again takes inspiration from Brazilian poems. In the post-chorus, Tucker sings and adapts 'Apaixonada,' a poem by writer Ana Cristina César:

Apaixonada,
saquei minha arma,
minha alma,
minha calma.
Só você não sacou nada.

"Which translates to:

In love,
I drew my gun,
my soul,
my calm.
Still you got nothing.

"The text is actually a double entendre because of the verb 'sacar.' It means simultaneously 'to draw' (to pull something out of a place, not to make an image) and 'to understand.' So in the last verse the author is conveying both the idea that the person she is in love with made no effort and did not understand being the object of this feeling."
