Jacobean perfume

"The Museum of London has commissioned British Master Perfumer Roja Dove to reimagine the scent of London’s vanished past. The perfume will feature as part of a major new exhibition, The Cheapside Hoard: London’s Lost Jewels, opening at the museum this October."

Roja Dove’s perfume, spliced with ingredients popular in the 17th Century, will combine lavender, frankincense, civet and other notes to create an evocative sensory installation, transporting visitors back to the opulent perfumes of Elizabethan and Early Stuart London. The scent will be displayed alongside one of the star pieces of the Cheapside Hoard – a gold, enamel, diamond and opal-set scent bottle.

Still crescent fresh: Roja Dove's tour of Harrods' Perfume Diaries exhibition.

"Today, we give you the next instalment of his ultimate history of perfume - the 1900s , the decade when the fragrance houses began to realise, as perfume legend Francois Coty said; 'a perfume needs to attract the eye as well as the nose' -- enter jewellery designer Rene Lalique and whole new era of beautiful perfume bottles."
