That's not the Chicago way

David P. Goldman, aka Spengler, writes something I would have thought was blindingly obvious. But then I have too many years studying anthropology.

Obama is the loyal son of a left-wing anthropologist mother who sought to expiate her white guilt by going to bed with Muslim Third World men. He is a Third World anthropologist studying us, learning our culture and our customs the better to neutralize what he considers to be a malignant American influence in world affairs.

John Podhoretz takes umbrage. Something about the Marquis of Queensbury rules and why conservative gentlemen insist on bringing a knife to a gun fight. They don't win the fight but they are invited to simply the best parties.

We are not allowed to ask about his birthplace, his identification as a Muslim in grade school, his mother's Marxist boyfriends, his grades in college, his friendship and working relationships with terrorists, his cocaine use or the real possibility he was a cocaine dealer. To do any of these things is to put you beyond the polite society of latter day Rockefeller Republicans.

In Canada, we call these "David Frum".

Aaarrgghhh... that should be "umbrage," not "umbridge." Delores Umbridge is a character in the Harry Potter novels. "Umbrage" is the emotion.

Unless you meant that Jpod "takes" -- as in, has sex with -- the kitten-obsessed Ministry of Magic minion, in which case I will now go wash my brain out with bleach.
