The Treason of the Clerks

To this day, we are still living with the consequences of carving up the Ottoman Empire to create far more unstable and dangerous states in the Middle East.

But Woodrow Wilson's words sounded great-- and that is what he and other intellectuals are judged by.

Barack Obama: Not the worst President since Carter, the worst President since Wilson.

For example: "If poverty is the root cause of lawlessness, why did crime rates fall when joblessness increased?"

The recession of 2008-09 has undercut one of the most destructive social theories that came out of the 1960s: the idea that the root cause of crime lies in income inequality and social injustice. As the economy started shedding jobs in 2008, criminologists and pundits predicted that crime would shoot up, since poverty, as the "root causes" theory holds, begets criminals. Instead, the opposite happened. Over seven million lost jobs later, crime has plummeted to its lowest level since the early 1960s.

Not to mention the left's theory of war: Apologize and throw money at the perps. This sort of thing used to be called simple cowardice, now it is called critical thinking.

White elephants are racist: To Obama, the deadliest of screw ups is not a bug but a feature. How are you enjoying that vote for Obama now, CIA?

People tell me the President’s rush to acknowledge the attack on the CIA in Afghanistan and mourn the deaths openly, publicly, and via press release is a huge no no. The CIA and greater intelligence community would prefer not to have the attention put on them. Additionally, because the President took the time to draft a blanket statement focused on the CIA in general instead of individually and more privately focusing on the families of the victims, it acknowledges the CIA’s work in Afghanistan, acknowledges that the attack has an impact on the CIA, and gives the terrorists a new recruiting tool — “you too can cause America to publicly mourn the loss of their spies.”

To you and me this may not seem like a big deal. But I’m told this is hugely significant and shows just how out of touch the Obama administration is with the intelligence community. I’m told that no other President has issued such blanket statements of public mourning directed toward an attack on the CIA and thereby having the White House itself confirming an attack on our intelligence community.

All left wing firing squads are circular: I am beginning to think the most vocal proponents of child porn hysteria should be locked up for pre-crime. In this case, pornography is in the eye of the beholder; you might as well lock up every paediatrician who has ever examined a patient.

The rapid introduction of full body scanners at British airports threatens to breach child protection laws which ban the creation of indecent images of children, the Guardian has learned.

Ministers now face having to exempt under 18s from the scans or face the delays of introducing new legislation to ensure airport security staff do not commit offences under child pornography laws.

After which, one fully expects a wave of child shaheeds.

Syllogism: Now the weather is so openly arguing for global warming denial we can only conclude the weather is racist. I could go on but you get the point.
