I quite liked them, particularly the Rembrandt episode on "The Conspiracy of the Batavians under Claudius Civilis" and its reputed message to the Dutch people.
Schama almost made me appreciate Rothko. 8-)

I have not seen those... fascinating. By coincidence, I am reading Schama's "Landscape and Memory" just now (from whence yesterday's Caspar David Friedrich).

Been watching these again over the last few days and enjoying them. If you haven't started, watch for Andy Serkis as Van Gogh in that episode. They were on PBS a few years ago; they had missed the Rothko one and ran it recently, bringing to top of mind.
