? O frabjous day | Main | Canada walks out on Ahmadinejad's UN speech ?

September 23, 2009

A standard for the West

Canada's entire delegation is set to walk out of the United Nations General Assembly chamber when Persian tyrant, Twelver whack job and Holocaust denier/enthusiast Mahmoud Ahmadinejad takes the podium.

This is a proud day to be Canadian.*

Canada will be setting a standard today for the West. Who will sit and listen to Ahmadinejad’s speech and afford him that kind of credibility after his hateful and lunatic rants? One can certainly expect the usual suspects to sit in rapt attention: Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Russia, China, and so on. They have done nothing but enable the mullahs of Iran to conduct nuclear weapons programs, terrorism by proxy, and oppression.

Do not expect the United States delegation to cover themselves with glory. For the moment, they are reporting to the wrong side.

* Will someone do me the favour of reminding me of today the next time I wonder whether there is a difference between voting Liberal and voting "Conservative".

Update: The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada.

Update: Something else to remind me about. The Liberals have the gall to piss and moan about Stephen Harper's no-show at the Parliament of Dictators on the Hudsonhttp://www.liberal.ca/en/newsroom/media-releases/16388_harpers-united-nations-no-show-shames-canada.

“I love my double-double as much as the next guy,” said Liberal Energy and Environment Critic David McGuinty. “But examining the latest in doughnut technology while the rest of the world’s leaders gather to confront the challenge of climate change is like Nero’s fiddling while Rome burns.”

Some sentences are too stupid to fisk. The Liberals aren't even wrong.

Every once in a while they shock us with something approaching conservatism.
