Eight percenters

Eight percent of New Jersey residents think Barack Obama is the Antichrist. That's 14% of Republicans, 6% of Democrats (half as many again as independents, for some reason).

My favourite stat? Fully 24% of Hispanics figure Barack Obama is fallen from heaven, the day-star, son of the morning.

Gog and Magog war against Israel: Reports that US President Barack Obama is to scrap plans to deploy a missile defence shield in Poland and the Czech Republic have provoked anger in Europe.

The move would be a cause of celebration in Moscow but of real concern to Eastern European countries which have looked to Washington for support against their former imperial master Russia. The US has said the shield is to guard against attacks by rogue states, such as Iran.

Underestimating the intelligence of the American people: Obama postpones meeting with Dalai Lama. Or doing much else for his idealistic followers such as liberalizing drug legislation, advocating marriage or civil unions for same sex couples or even the sweep of a pen required to sign an executive order regarding gay people in the military. It is increasingly obvious the Obama agenda has nothing to do with the agendas of Obama cultists.

Why the Left is now nearly unhinged about criticism of a black liberal president: When it was silent about the racial implications of the constant and vicious anger directed at Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.

The voter that Obama needs to keep will look at these incidents far differently than a CNN or MSNBC commentator, and will wonder what might have happened had a Bush White House czar claimed blacks were racial polluters or prone to kill, or had a white-male country-music singer stolen the mike from a small young black woman to praise another white country singer. So there will be a class distinction in how these incidents are seen, and it will result in the media elite's alleging white racism at exactly the same time that the blue-collar voter draws the exact opposite lesson.

This is very astute. One day a decade down the road the media might pick up on it, too.
