Shakira: She Wolf

This blog remains implacably committed to the principle of bendiness. Also, lycanthropy. Awoo!

Shakira - She Wolf (Video Premier) Full HD

With grateful thanks to Taylor Empire Airways who elaborates thusly.

There is a part of the chorus where you will laugh so hard tears will stream down your face, like they did the first time I heard this song on the radio.

That would be one of the great pop hooks of all time.

One thing I will say to her credit is that this is not exactly the first time she hasn come up with something lyrically or visual odd.

So she either doesn't appreciate that it's odd/funny (kind of unlikely what with all the handlers and PR people), or she just doesn't care.

I find that a little refreshing when we're used to dealing with celebs and musicians where every last step in the spotlight is meticulously crafted to fit a certain image. And the image is never "goofball".

Somewhat amusing lyrics aside, the song is being sung in Shakira's unique breathy voice with all tones locked into the upper mezzo/lower dramatic sopranno range; for her this means enough kilohertz that only a lycanthropic audience will fully appreciate her.
Very appropriate.
When added to the caged go-go dancer (in a nude bodystocking, no less!) theme, I think we are left with a peculiar video which (classily) updates Ann Magnusson's funny Night Flight special "How To Be A New Wave Video Slut"...only with more (infrasonic) vocal talent.

I am now Googling "How To Be A New Wave Video Slut", obviously...
