The Israel Exception

Alan Dershowitz explains the Israel exception. It is an ongoing source of amazement to me. Whether it is marching in the streets to protest against the United States and in defence of fascist Serbia, Baathist (i.e. Nazi) Iraq, fascist North Korea, Dark Ages theocrats in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon or Gaza or any other barbarism-de-jour, the blank look of amazement these protesters have when I explain to them they are objectively FASCIST.

But then very few Marxists have ever bothered to read Marx, preferring instead some third hand Frankfurt School swill pre-digested for them by language studies profs at Duke or Santa Barbara.

Let us make this simple. If the first thing that moves you to outrage after years of reading my blog is some nitpicking defence of Bill Moyers while free people are subject to years of bombardment by men who would cut off your head for being a Jew then your politics do not meet even the low bar of fascism. You may be a well educated man. You may be a kind man. You may even be a good man (such is for God to judge). But you are intellectually and morally retarded.

I say this as a friend. If you choose to wake up, you may even thank me for it. Time to spend a few days outside your academic bubble with the working people your ideology pretends to espouse.

And - small but important point here - the lives of your grandchildren depend on the choices you make now. Though if you are very lucky, the United States Marines will continue to protect their future even as you berate them for the manner in which they do it.

It must be a very impressive view from your office.

...consider the recent wars waged by Russia against Chechnya. In these wars Russian troops have killed tens of thousands of Chechnyan civilians, some of them willfully, at close range and in cold blood. Yet those radical academics who scream bloody murder against Israel (particularly in England) have never called for war crime tribunals to be convened against Russia. Nor have they called for war crime charges to be filed against any other of the many countries that routinely kill civilians, not in an effort to stop enemy terrorists, but just because it is part of their policy.

Nor did we see the Nuremburg-type rallies that were directed against Israel when hundreds of thousands of civilians were being murdered in Rwanda, in Darfur and in other parts of the world. These bigoted hate-fests are reserved for Israel.

The accusation of war crimes is nothing more than a tactic selectively invoked by Israel’s enemies. Those who cry “war crime” against Israel don’t generally care about war crimes, as such, indeed they often support them when engaged in by country’s they like. What these people care about, and all they seem to care about, is Israel.

Exactly. This is the same anti-Semitism that has haunted our civilization for two thousand years. And, sadly, in some cases it is the same wishful thinking by Jews who have assimilated and believe they are among civilized people, among friends. I often wondered how German Jews could not have seen the writing on the wall, not have fled Nazi Germany when they had the chance. Well heads up. Once again, we have Nazis marching in the streets of Toronto, uttering death threats against Jewish children in full view of the police and hundreds of thousands of smug young progressives who will smile as they send another generation of Jews to the fire, serene and confident of their virtue.

Never again. By any means necessary.

Q: "How you you say 'Never Again!' in Hebrew?"

A: "Zahal"

the self righteousness of this sort of bigot here in Lost Angels would be breathtaking, were i not as cynical as i am. fortunately, they are as cowardly as they are stupid when encountered in small numbers.

the only thing more disgusting to me are the self loathing Jews who evidently are dead set in aiding the demise of their own fellow believers, not realizing that they are next on the list.

You have said what I have always felt, but as usual, your version is the more eloquent.
