The Conservative government has introduced a motion to Parliament's Justice Committee proposing an investigation into the abusive, corrupt practises of the Canadian Human Rights Commission. The motion specifically refers to public "concerns" about the CHRC's "investigative techniques" and their "interpretation and application" of the section 13 thought crimes provision.

I've just returned from Afghanistan last week. (...) I would relish an opportunity to speak before a government inquiry and let them know about how the Taliban view freedom of speech; how the Taliban desire to control what the people think is not that different from the professional grievance-mongers and partisan thought-police here in Canada; that the Canadian government (up until your recent campaign, Ezra) appeared to demand that the Afghan government hold a higher standard than our own.

Where can I sign up? I might get in trouble from the chain of command for expressing opinions like these, but I'm willing to take that heat if need be.

A 'motion' about a 'proposition' made in committee isn't exactly red meat conservatism.

Has this passed committee or have the Libs and Dippers blocked it? If you go to the committee's home page it says "no meetings scheduled". It appears that this is almost literally the least the government can do.
