Answering my psychic request for more photography from the field, Bill Ardolino posts images from a patrol of the Shorja Market with the Sons of Iraq (click the main image for a slideshow).
Last Friday, soldiers from the 3rd Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division conducted a night patrol through Shorja Market, the most famous market in Iraq with the Al Sadria Sons of Iraq, or neighborhood watch.
Faris Abdul Hassan is straight from central casting, they should seriously make a movie. And Ardolino has a real eye for an inherently dramatic context; noirish and surreal but also just as clearly the everyday life of many decent people.
