The first
Marc Lebuis of Dust My Broom has filed a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission concerning "hate propaganda" by Montreal salafi imam Hammaad Abu Sulaiman Al-Dameus Hayiti of the Association Musulmane de Montréal Est mosque. Lebuis includes details of the imam's views, saying:
To which Dr. Rusty of the Jawa Report says: "Snowball's chance in hell....." Hey, we have to stay optimistic up north; to the Norse Hel* was a cold place. Solomonia describes the move as a legal shot in the "Canadian Counter Jihad" (love the sound of that). Intapundit says, "I think we'll see more of this." Indeed.
Libertarian and tactical objections are raised in comment to Jay Currie's intervention on the subject. To clarify my own comment there: More like this please. I am beginning to think Pr. Reynold's suggestion is worth pursuing.
Currie's libertarian objections are duly noted. But do we imagine for a minute some imam - of the Muslim or leftist variety - cares about "human rights" when they file a complaint? Hardly. They intend to use these kangaroo proceedings to silence dissent. The best way to demonstrate the illegitimacy of these commissions may be turn them to our advantage or, at the least, clearly demonstrate that an arm of government has been hijacked by special interests; that a naked political agenda and raw abuse of power is now commonly disguised as justice. In the meantime, we must stop being nice and give every thought to our own campaign of "maximum disruption" (though no pies in faces, please... there has to be a line).

Also related: A Canadian left blogger complains, saying it is "amazing" the Canadian dextrosphere is so selective about the free speech cases we choose to take note of.** Small Dead Animals Replies (and, I think, leaves a mark).
So, what is "amazing" is that his fellow travellers on the left lifted not a hand to help him, expended no effort to get the word out. Even in this post, Patels neglected to provide a name or a source link.
For all the left’s faith in the power of the collective, it rather failed to kick start when needed, no?
Perhaps they were waiting for the government to do it.
* And before anyone goes all Deities & Demigods on me, I am engaged in a little poetic flourish with that one.
** "Of which we choose to take note." Damn, still ending sentences with prepositions.

Philosophical objections aside, the entertaining precedent established by Lucy Warman is that you don't have to be part of the potentially offended group to file a complaint.
I recall a while back the Quebec Press had some hard core anti-semitic fun at the expense of the ADQ leader. I am not Jewish and I was offended. On the Warman precedent I can haul the various publications before the CHRC.
The possibilities are endless and equally wrong...but in a fun sort of a way.

I have been known to engage in the guilty pleasure of trolling Rabble.ca/babble. Some of the threads contain very hateful statements on religious faith among others. They would be an easy target as a bit of digging would provide a wealth of material.
Funny that no one from the CHRC has ever been reported to have logged in there to my knowledge. Nor has a complaint ever been filed about the type of anti-zionism to be found there.
In a recent thread Michelle the moderator was very quick to point out how she could not believe the fact the she and Mark Steyn agreed on the topic of Section 13(1);)
