And suddenly my whole life made sense
David Shayler, former MI5 officer and traitor, came to notoriety for revealing a purported plot to assassinate Muammar al-Gaddafi (because killing Gaddafi would be a bad thing, apparently). This August 1998 Panorama report on the "Shayler Affair" is interesting not only in a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy kind of way but for a passing observation on Whitehall's long-term involvement harbouring "islamic extremists". Give Shayler some small credit for noting this was a problem.
Having graduated to a strain of Trutherism - we are meant to believe the planes piloted into the WTC towers and the Pentagon were special effects* - Shayler has now declared he is the Messiah.** At last his whole life makes sense, he observes. I could not have put it better myself.***
But this is all by the by. Yes, Shayler's moaning aums are hilarious; the Channel 4 report is worth it for those alone. But it is a source of consternation to me this nut has settled on Dartmoor. I would quite like to do so myself but do not have the means. Six years in MI6 (sans pension, I would hope) would hardly seem to foot the bill. So where is the money coming from?
* And some sort of fatuous, evil conspiracy theory about the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, too. I did not care to learn what it is and consequently did not watch the whole of the linked clip. As William Burroughs advised: Do not humour the mentally ill; it is a bottomless pit.
** For future reference: If your citizenry, let alone your police services, are fired upon and murdered from a diplomatic residence that diplomatic residence should not only have its immunity revoked; it should be razed with everyone inside. To do otherwise is to invite more of the same. Don't shoot the messenger, indeed. But it should not take a Spartan to work out you do not let the messenger shoot you.
*** Note to Channel 4. John Dee's Enochian Holy Table is not an example of Jewish mysticism.

Yer, Enochian table link is bad. Ch. 4 is doing quite a bit on Islamist s in the UK. So much so that have invoked the ire of not only the Muslim professional whingers but of the police as well.

Thanks to pointing to the problem with the link. I am less worried about Channel 4 than I am for the Scottish health service; I gather everyone is to be forbidden from eating at their desks during Ramadan. There could not be a better example of dhimmitude than this and frankly angers me more as a reaction to the recent failed attack on Glasgow than the Spaniards fleeing the field after the massacre in Madrid.
In Canada, such an injunction to observe Ramadan would be unconstitutional, would be challenged in court and would be disallowed (though employers could ban people from ever eating at their desks, which would be a pity given the source of the problem). Not one Tim Horton's double-double - not even a Tim Bit's worth - should be sacrificed on the altar of another man's moon-cult. Either that or I am going to start demanding muslims observe my religious beliefs and nobody wants that. Especially not when the stars align. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl ftagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl ftagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl ftagn!

But what would happen to the shoe industry if Gaddafi were assassinated?
Hey, I like shoes.
