The Sins of the Abbé Groulx
Anti-Semitic political cartoons from Québec.* You could knock me over with a feather. Welcome to the 1930s folks; it is all happening again (via Taylor & Company). And so this is Canada.
Here is a thought: Charge, try and imprison the editors, publishers and "artists" of these works under Canada's hate crimes legislation. This is not free speech; it is incitement. Failing that it will come to violence. Not today, no, we have all the usual suspects for that. But if Her Majesty's government will not act it is only a matter of time before lawlessness invites in the hard men. Nazis and "a tiny minority of extremist" Muslims have shown a thirst for blood but they are amateurs at mass-murder in comparison with an enraged democracy. To all the neo-Nazis and jihadis and every nihilist and Truther and soft-headed apologist inside the wire: Keep pushing, motherf*ckers. Who knows? The edge might be some ways off yet.
And Québec: Je me souviens.
* Scroll down beyond Tiger Woods. Not recommended for Flea-readers on blood-pressure medication or with some last remaining corner of the soul that can still be shocked these long sickening years since 9/11.

Trial and imprisonment sounds about right. I am surprised this is getting no airplay in the Anglo media.

I was exercising some rhetorical restraint. I think they should all be flogged.
As for the anglo-media... Quebec gets the same "colonial guilt" pass as the rest. It is time to stop apologizing for what we have achieved and to demand the liberty we have earned. This medieval southern European Jew-baiting is a sickness. We have nothing to apologize for in confronting it as a public health hazard.

That has to be one of the most stunningly wrong things I have ever seen in a newspaper.

Are we surprised to hear French-speaking people slagging off Jews? It seems to be par for the course even in current day France.

I am so sorry for Canada, which now faces weeks of angry Jewish mobs rampaging through its cities, burning cars, hanging cartoonists in effigy...oh, wait. No, it doesn't, because in general Jews are civilized human beings.
Funny thing, that.

For which we are all (should be) profoundly grateful. Though it appears to me that the weak-kneed respond best to violence; in fact, the Fisks of the world seem to enjoy groveling before whatever mob happens to be throwing the stones.
It may be the world would be a better place if more of the reasonable people lost their tempers on occasion. As it stands, the lunatics have the run of the streets our elected representatives lack the spine to enforce the law. In the end it is either going to be the noose or the mob.
