X marks the spot

The next time you are being subjected to a lecture in tolerance, remember tolerance is a hard-won virtue and not something to be taken for granted. Certainly, there are hundreds of millions of people who are discouraged from forming an opinion on the subject, let alone to disagree publicly with whatever religious edicts are passed down from on high.

But best to have a rather large pinch of salt in hand nevertheless. Tolerance is as tolerance does.

The letter "X" soon may be banned in Saudi Arabia because it resembles the mother of all banned religious symbols in the oil kingdom: the cross.

The new development came with the issuing of another mind-bending fatwa, or religious edict, by the infamous Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice — the group of senior Islamic clergy that reigns supreme on all legal, civil, and governance matters in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I cannot speak for the powers of Mordor but mockery of Xanadu risks a Fleatwa!

Well that is quite daft. Why not ban the T or Tau which was in fact what people, including Christ was crucified on? The X was used by Romans as well but less common that the Tau cross.

I often think the only reason we will eventually win this war is that we are marginally less stupid than our enemies.
