Wumpskate

Every second Monday of the month, 4645 and a half Venice Blvd. attracts a stranger sight that the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence: Wumpskate is Goth Industrial Rollerskating (hat tip to Agent Bedhead).

If you wandered in to the World on Wheels on Venice last Monday, you�d have seen an eclectic bunch of weirdos hobbling, stumbling and occasionally flying around a crusty roller rink on rented skates. It's a goth club. No, really.

The playlist is standard goth/industrial, with a bit of electroclash thrown in. "Sex on Wheels" gets a lot of play, and a very strange cover of "We Fade to Grey". There are still those that attempt to wear corsets and tulle even over rental skates. Lots of hair dye. There are clouds of clove smoke coming from the patio, and vendors selling everything from clothes to fake hair to spooky spooky doodads.

I cannot believe YouTube is letting me down on this one.

Skiing I can do if pressed. Not my idea of recreation, however, unless it involved the Cold Wastes with Fafrhd and the Grey Mouser and we were off to confiscate a large diamond or some such. So, only for practical purposes in others words.
