Assassin's Creed
I have never seen anything as amazing as this demonstration for Ubisoft's forthcoming Assassin's Creed; loving the parkour in this as much as in the new Bond, btw. Halo 3 is going to have its work cut out to be even awesomer. Time to consider a special PayPal donation button dedicated to the Flea's XBox 360 fund...
Also worth a look is this Mass Effect footage from E3 if only for the Firefly non-steady cam landing shots (via Opposable Thumbs).

My beloved offer me a console for Xmas (next gen) and I had to cry off. I have no idea which one I want. They all have cracking games coming out for them and they all have their strengths. If you were getting one which one would it be?

The Xbox 360; no question. First, I live in anticipation of Halo 3. All other video-games are of secondary interest (though I love the Grand Theft Auto franchise and these are available for Xbox as well). Second, I have tried out the PS3 controller and still find it small and fiddly compared to the satisfying weight of the 360 controller. Third, will the Cell driving the PS3 is a more powerful machine than what Microsoft is tooled up with there isn't a game company on Earth that has figured out what to do with all the processing power besides render leaves. PlayStation games are crap unless you are into endless button-mashing arena fights and whatever substandard crap Lucas is shoveling in any given month. The PS3 besides should come down in price in time for next Christmas on the off-chance it has a good title or two to show by that time.

Guessing the whole Wii (who the hell came up with the name?) thing has just not impressed you at all. I have not exactly heard "real gamers" waxing poetic about it, it has to be said.

I've tried out both the Wii and the 360 at gaming kiosks. I haven't tried the PS3 out, but I think it'll suffer in comparison. I'm sure the graphics are prettier than the other consoles, but from the commercials they don't look $200 prettier than the 360. Nor does it look like it'll be $350 dollars more fun than the Wii.
(Played Excite Truck on the Wii. Graphics look clunky in comparison, but once you start using the Wiimote, you forget all about the graphics. And I've only heard good things about the Wii.)

Everyone I know who is remotely videogame/animation industry connected has been raving about the Wii. I have been anxious to try out the Wiimote but so far I have only run into the 360 and PS3. I have to say I am impressed by the reaction as I had assumed the control was a gimmick, would attract gimmick-driven game design and would be a total disaster. I am delighted to have been proven wrong.

I thought it was a gimmick at first, too. And I don't know how good it is long term, but I think I'm a believer.
