Wonder Wear

The Flea stays on top of Kate Beckinsale reportage with this costumed cavorting update. It turns out the Wonder Woman costume was not just Len Wiseman's fever dream.
She apparently told IOL.com, "I dressed up as her last Hallowe'en so it would be good to do it again."

I think of Wonder Woman as very much a product of 1930s and 1940s America. Her best and most interesting stories seem to have come from that era, and frankly she was made to serve as an icon to be aspired to by young women in a way they don't seem to need today, i.e. it's pretty normal for them to be interested in sports and to be self-possessed and such, which is what she was created to do by the guy who invented her.
I have a hard time seeing her as updated for 2005 and still being relevant. She doesn't seem like enough of a natural archetype to me.
(I am speaking strictly of the character, with no opinion on the merits of the actress in question being offered.)
