Lord Of The Rings musical
It is obscurely satisfying to me that The Lord Of The Rings musical will open in Toronto a year before it opens in London.
The £11.5 million adaptation of the JRR Tolkien trilogy - destined to be the most expensive musical in history - had been due to open in London in December.
That said, and despite being the most expensive musical theatre production ever staged, it strikes me as near impossible to tell the story in an all singing, all dancing three hours. This thing is a disaster in the making.

I don't want to see any singing, dancing Ithilien rangers and Mordor orcs, either. Reducing it to a mere musical somehow lessens the epic scale of the story.
