New York City walk

I would love to make the same walk of Manhattan.

Between May 2002 and December 2004, I walked every street on the island of Manhattan. Every darn street.

Nice collection of images there. They bring back the simultaneous attraction and repulsion for New York that I felt when visiting the city. I think it's the combination of palpable history with neglect and a very organic decay that causes it. Here in the American West the built environment is newer and aging has more the feeling of flaking mummification than a melting decomposition. Quite a striking difference, really.

I imagine Toronto has this New York atmosphere as well.
