Pornaoke

Ok, so you really can't make this stuff up. An activity not generally associated with audience participation (hat tip to the Flea's whiskey expert).

It is not an activity generally associated with audience participation. By its very nature, pornography is made for the voyeur rather than participant. But a new nightclub in Edinburgh is aiming to combine pornography with the only activity which perhaps provokes more general embarrassment: karaoke. The somewhat unusual hybrid is being called pornaoke.

Wow, and I thought Airaoke was a big deal.

A few months ago, I was taken to a strange Hollywood bar called M that used to be a Romanian Steak House. It was Airaoke night: Air Guitar Karaoke.

The performances were good for a few laughs (especially the antics of the host, the self-proclaimed "Bjorn to Rock"), but it actually got slightly unsettling to see middle aged men, in minute four of a song, wailing (wanking?) away on their air guitar as Metallica frittered away over the PA.

Come to think of it, maybe it's a lot closer to Pornaoke than I thought...
