Nadsat is addictive. A friend and I ended up practically talking Nadsat to each other for about two weeks after reading it at the same time: "that chellovek has keeshkas!" "viddy that horrorshow devotchka, droogie!" "Oh My Brother, who cares about all that cal?"
I think the reason is that Burgess's book has a sort of hallucinogenic quality that draws you into its world. The only other book that had that for me was Orwell's 1984. I read that over one snow day many years ago in high school...I still remember feeling for the first time, what utter despair and desolation felt like.
