It's still Labour
Despite the repeated praise I have heaped upon Tony Blair there is no substitute for living in England to know what people actually have to put up with. Too stupid to be enacted in Canada? Watch this space.
Well, I thought wrong - they are indeed that mindbogglingly dumb and power-mad, and plan to do exactly that. So, businesses can forget being free to offer their customers bargains on foods the government deems 'unhealthy'.
Oh, and they're going to ban smoking at work and in restaurants and cafes as well. Not that right-thinking people everywhere would not agree with such a fair-minded infringement on treating adults like adults. The whole planet is being covered in orange warning tape and nobody seems to mind. Time to retreat into a realm of fantasy (until that gets regulated too).

A number of years ago the controversy was that Britain was having difficulty using the specific number of traffic cones allocated by Brussels. The joke was that the folks managing roadworks were putting them up simply to use their quota.
In a regulation-mad Europe, the bureaucrats must justify their existence not by the sense of what they issue, but by its volume. Clearly, the madness has crossed the chunnel.
