Hubal
Hubal was de god van de Ka'ba reeds ver vóór de tijd van Mohammed.
I was googling around about the architecture of Mecca and came across a website explaining the etymology of the name Allah and its relationship to other names for god(s) in the ancient near east. This isn't actually written in Dutch is it? Suddenly I can read Dutch? It feels like the time Murdock on the A-Team claimed he could understand Spanish because Spanish was only English spoken with an accent.

When I worked in Holland I found I could be understood by the old guys (the young were fluent in English) by pretending I had a large black current candy in my mouth. Seemed to work. Being able to expectorate mid-word due to my highland heritage did not hurt either.

Dutch is the English of the timeline where the Norman Conquest never happened. If you miss a word or two, look it up in a German dictionary. You'll find that the Dutch is using the Germanic word where English uses the Gallic/Latin one. Easy-peasy.
I especially liked the paragraph about Allah's three daughters: al-Uzza, al-Lat, and Manah. Do we now know where Lilith came from?
