My "most recent pings" box in MT shows a trackback from a post at another blog yet there is no link to the Flea from that post. How do I remove this obnoxious, forced trackback link from my blog? Unfortunately, the "most recent pings" box shows the link this jerk has created but does not show me where in the 75Mb of Flea files it is to be found... Any help is much appreciated!

TrackBack URL for this entry:
And another question from my blog-challenged file... how do I go about preventing this guy from creating more trackback links at my expense?

Rue had this problem. She went to the extreme of copying the post to a text editor, deleting the original post, then recreating the post, then backdating and publishing it.
Of course this would wipe out any comments attached to the post...
Are you getting trackbacks emailed to you like comments? There's a switch in MT to turn this on. The email has a link to the specific post the bastard trackbacked.
I'm stumped on prevention. Maybe a Red Ensign Rapid Response Expeditionary Force would be in order. John of Argggh! could supply the weaponry.

Here is the PingedEntry extension that will give you tags to ID the title and link of a pinged post (as in my list o' recent pings). That should do that.
I think IP banning will block trackbacks. Alternately, I think MTBlacklist will block a trackback from a site that is in its blacklist. I'm not 100% certain of that, though.

Ray's thought on the e-mail notifications is a good one, too, though that's more after the fact.

Thanks, Ray. I have activated the trackback email notification feature so should be able to catch any future instances. I am easily bloody-minded enough to repost material if that is what it takes to delete trackbacks. And rapid response of some kind seems entirely justified.

And thanks, Dave, for the MT Plugin. I am looking at the linked page now and trying to work out where to insert this useful code...

I trackbacked your 'cruel shoes' on one of my recent posts, so, please don't break that link.
