War of the Worlds
H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise sounds like a travesty in the making. At least the Cruise Mission: Impossible films were fun.

I'm not sure I *want* a "fun" WotW. I didn't see anything in the article that was particularly disturbing, besides the fast-tracking.
On the other hand, I'm quite happy with the George Pal version. Though they could use a B2 bomber in the remake and have it stand in for the Flying Wing ...

I should have parsed that more carefully. I thought fun remakes of MI were ok but then was never a big fan of the original series. War of the Worlds, however, does not deserve the saccharine treatment I fear it will get in the hands of Mr. Spielberg. I loathed AI.
