High Line

One and a half miles of abandoned, elevated train tracks in Chelsea are to be transformed into a park. What an excellent idea. Make certain to watch the video that accompanies the article (via Gothamist).

The High Line area, which extends from the Meatpacking District through Chelsea, hasn't been used in over 20 years and has become an eyesore. Four teams of designers have unveiled their ideas for what to do with that space, last used by trains in 1980 and nearly demolished in the mid-80's. Ideas include a perennial landscape with a pool, a long, stretching green space, and expansive trails.

Flea-readers who can arrange a green card/employment for the Flea in New York are encouraged to write!

Lots of cute little corners in which to score drugs -- and tons of nooks and crannies for crooks and trannies.

Ha ha! What a great line!
