Carry on browsing

The Flea has a high-speed bias with all these links to videos and such. I have been thinking of fiddling with MT to make links open into a new window on the grounds this would make it simpler for dial-up folks to carry on browsing while files load. Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?

Awesome idea -- even for us highspeed guys.

Sometimes you want to wander around a linked site for a while (case in point: Double Agent), but when you're finished checking it out and want to go back to Flea-land, it's a pain to have to go through the back-history, or re-load the Flea from bookmarks and then scroll back to where you were before you followed the link.

Of course you can get around it by right-clicking on the link in your post, and selecting "Open in New Window", but it would be nice to remove that extra step.

Ok, from my Shotgun posting I know the extension is [ target="_blank"] but how to modify the Javascript in the little URL button? Hmm...

If I want links to open in a new window, I'll do it myself. Anyone can do it, it's easy. Shift-click in IE, middle or Ctrl-click in Netscape.

I don't know if it helps or not: Look at http://youngpup.net/2003/popups
for a discussion of decent, bookmarkable popups.

Hmm. These are good arguments for letting people right-click at their discretion...
