Crusader Kings

I shall look into getting a copy of this video game. The fate of Sussex is at stake!

Playing as the Duke of Norfolk, I managed to get myself made King of Wales, which meant all the vassals who owed me allegiance became part of the realm of Wales. Effectively, the entire north of England split away from the Norman-dominated southern half, held by William the Conquerer, aka Bill the Bastard, and they didn't just call him that because his father wasn't married to his mother, if you get my drift.

This game's predecessor, Europa Universalis II, was also pretty good. Not exactly a graphics bonanza, but it was an interesting look at the history of Europe (and the colonization of the rest of the world) from 1419-1800.

Of course imperialist warmongers like me loved it because we could press our armies on to Paris, Dublin and Edinburgh, allowing Henry V to become King of England, Scotland, Ireland and France. Not to mention liberating Judea and Samaria from the Mameluks.
