This South Pole station walk-th(r)ough might usefully identify the room where the Thing makes its final assimilation. Or was that at Mc Murdo?

I always thought that The Thing (and Who Goes There?) was set in the Arctic.

I'm wrong again, it seems.

I am pretty sure the original movie was set in the artic and the John Carpenter remake in the antarctic. I never thought to wonder why the change... also, this reminds me I have not seen the original since I was a teenager. That Thing scared the lights out of me.
