1984

Apple has its famous "1984" Macintosh advertisement on-line as a twentieth anniversary commemoration. This is one of the most powerful ads I have ever seen.

They've added an iPod player to hammer girl's waist. Nice touch.

My favourite telly advert of all time.

Only "one of the most powerful ads" you've seen? What else is in the running?

The only other ads I can think of which compare are the '70s Chanel ads, also directed by Ridley Scott.

That "Chanel... Share the fantasy" advertising was powerful stuff. As for alternative ad genius I say, "Ambassador, with these Ferrerro Rocher you are really spoiling us!"

That ad always makes me think of "Pirates of Silicon Valley". Where they have the screening of the video to launch the Mac...and someone nudges Steve Jobs (played by Noah Wiley) and points out the similarity between Big Brother in the ad and Bill Gates (Anthony Michael Hall). Funny scene.
