Mission to nowhere

Point 1: I concur; humans need to use our God-given curiousity to bustle about this wonderful universe that He's put on for us.
Point 2: There are many secularist who see the "search for life" as the only raison d'etre (sp?). I think they just want another reason to p*** in the face of believers.
Point 3: Having the government do this is stupid, if not actually insane. You're asking a very blunt instument to perform a very delicate task;
Point 3a: besides cutting-edge exploration (outer system) this should be left to the private sector. Sure, the State can bark up some money (ala Columbus' venture), but leave this in the hands of those with a vested interest.

Good feelings will not get us permanantly in space; market forces will.
