Big Mac Tonight

Me and one of my favourite bartenders burst into song the other day but could not quite remember the '80s lyrics we needed. Ok, for this you have to imagine a moon-headed guy in evening-wear playing piano and singing to the tune of "Mack the Knife".

When the clock strikes
Half past six, babe
It's time to head for
Golden light
It's a good time
For the great taste
(Dinner) at McDonald's
It's Mac Tonight!

Come on make it right tonight.

And then... The Flea can only echo this question: what the schmeck happened to Mac Tonight?

I seem to remember Grimace always trying to steal milkshakes and such, which I don't have anything against. But when you decide to push the spotlight off of a human/moon hybrid as the #2 mascot to make room for some sort of rotten fishstick? That's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

Have I told you lately that you're a profoundly disturbed individual? lol

(In a nice way, though...)

I loved that commercial. Of course, I love the song, too.

Every time I try to remember all the lyrics to "Mack the Knife", I invariably end up singing the "Mac Tonight" version. =(

I start singing Mac Tonight at the drop of a hat.

I couldnt believe my eyes, but Mac Tonight is actually appearing on the bags at McDonalds here in Klamath Falls, Oregon! I dont know if its part of a new ad campaign, but I nearly shat myself after seeing his face for the first time in 15 years.

I heard the real jazz version of that song when I was out swing dancing last night. The commercial was on when I was about two and I used to sing along to it, so I had to look it up. That's how I found this site.

ok, mac tonight was slinging some kind of burger. which one was it? I swear it was the big mac, hence MAC TONIGHT, my friend insists it was some other sandwich on a kaiser roll? I know she's sniffing glue, help me prove her wrong.

This website has a description of the ad (with some tricky spelling). It tends to agree with your Big Mac claim:

There is a boy doing homework in his room, when all of the sudden, the room statrs spinning, and he sees the shadow of McTonight laughing on his wall. When the room stops spinning, the boy finds a Big Mac on top of his books. As the boy goes to bite into the burger, his mom calls for him, and says that its time to go to Mc Donalds. As they leave the house you see Mc Tonight sinning on their roof. That commercial STILL GIVES ME NIGHTMARES!!!!!!!
