More spam

Someone hacked my Blogrolling account, deleted all my links and replaced them with multiple copies of their own. I say, bring back flogging for spammers. I sent a note to Blogrolling but now I cannot access their server. I am going to give them a day or so to fix the problem. If that does not work, I shall dump Blogrolling and return to a manual system of links in the sidebar. Sorry for the lack of linkage in the meantime.

And then... Hmm. It now appears to be working again. A momentary glitch?

Actually the results of a hacking attack, according to the Blogrolling news page (and, from character witnesses involved, the site that got replicated as everyone's link was not at all responsible for it).

It was annoying while it happened, but things did restore pretty quickly, and the recently-updated info of blogrolling.com still makes it worthwhile keeping, IMO.

I just received a snarky email from a Toronto bloggers listserv (addressed to the whole list and not just the Flea) about how Blogrolling "was a bad idea anyway" so it was just as well that thousands would dump it after this weekend's inconvenience. This strikes me as a cretinous thing to write. Don't like Blogrolling? Don't use it.

I am glad to hear the author of the linked blog was not to blame.
