The Punisher
The trailer is now available. Wow, it looks horrible. In fact, I was composing mentally some sort of Spawn comparison when I learned who plays the villain. Battlefield Earth, anyone? Ain't It Cool News wonders if Dolph wasn't so bad after all.

Hmmm. Can't say it looks too terrible. I mean, we're not talking Hamlet here -- the basic Frank Castle story is straightforward and bloody.
I can see this one jumping either way.

The actor playing the Punisher certainly has the right Tim Bradstreet-drawing look and build. I doubt he could have been cast better visually (though I have no idea whether he can act). My negative reaction started with the pastel setting Ain't It Cool News also did not like. I love Miami Vice but don't see the Punisher in that context. The next problem I had was with the group of totally ineffectual looking, black clothes wearing bad guys. They don't scare me much. Finally, there is the master-stroke of including John Travolta. This may be the saving grace of the film though not in a good way.
Those are my two and a half cents... I hope I am wrong as I would love to love this movie.
