The Flea got its second round of comment spam yesterday. The first was just over a month ago and was so odd I did not know what to make of it at the time. Yesterday's was posted by a Russian site selling a non-family oriented product. I deleted the comments as soon as I saw them but I fear this is only the beginning. Reading comments is about half the Flea-fun for me now and I would be most disappointed if I had to disable them.
The IP address of the recent offenders is:
68.47.172.4
And then... Here is another: 212.179.224.136
And then... And another: 205.188.209.135

Perhaps the Flea will find more information here? We at Arghhh await the day we are enough of a presence in the blogosphere to merit the attentions of porn spammers. We therefore are seeking to pre-empt, rather than react, learning from the travails of those who blaze our trail!

Thanks for the tip! I am curious about the MT-Blacklist utility but am going to wait for the second iteration before I think of running with it. ***Dave has suggested a one size fits all approach might present a simpler target for the spammers than a variety of bespoke solutions. Thus, I am watching to see what ***Dave does next! I like the idea of a reverse Turing test (linked through James Seng's site in the CAPTCHA post) but am reluctant to starting fiddling with MT in the middle of the week...
