Flea pictures
I have had reports of a "vanishing images" problem from people reading the Flea. The Flea banners and buttons are all saved as .jpg files as are the images I include in posts. Is anyone reading this having a comparable problem? And, if so, does anyone have an idea what the cause of the difficulty might be? Is there a preferable file-format I could be using for images (given a desire to limit file sizes) and is it possible something viral is being included in the images I am generating using Photoshop?
I am also curious to hear from people who have not encountered this difficulty. I access the Flea from three different computers using three different versions of Windows and thus far can also see the images I include for publication. It is worrying to learn my shopped work is not making it to the screens of Flea-readers everywhere...

I've encountered this problem on your site twice (that's in the last few months). As the Flea is a daily read, the rate of incidence is not high.. And it seemed to correct itself the next time I logged on. Freaky.
As for formats, .jpg and .gif are the standard. I stand in awe of your photoshop skill.

I've noticed that the images don't display if my firewall is up.
I used to have the same problem when visiting Little Tiny Lies...

Two other reports does suggest a firewall thing could be the problem. Strangely, the firewall I am running does not interfere with the pics...

I have not had any problems, and you are a daily read from at least three computers: One from behind a military-grade firewall, one at home on WinXP, and one off my wireless network on the Powerbook G4.
Don't worry, we'd (my wife is hooked, too!) still read even without the pics. They're gravy!

Got it... It turns out some combination of XP, Norton and/or Explorer was unhappy with the hotlink protection I had activated at the server. I have turned off the hotlink protection for now and have reports from one Flea-reader that all pictures have now become visible. Woo! Yay!

Looks like either my unplugging the firewall when I visit the site, or what you did has done it.
I get down to the "Arrgghhh" entry without problems, pictures, sidebars, etc.
One thing I noticed when I logged in at the firehouse--the computer there warned me that the Ghost site was trying to insert a cookie onto the firehouse machine...maybe some people are having problems with that as well?

I am glad disabling the hotlink protection seems to have worked. I am disturbed to read about the cookie issue though and would be grateful if anybody else is getting this sort of message. If this is happening it is at the level of the server and without my knowledge or permission. I shall write to my host provider and check into it.
