Dr. Who

Dr. Who is returning to the BBC. Yay! Not for another two years. Boo!

The show's creators say the series is in the early stages of development and details of who will play the Time Lord will not be available for some time.

If things go well, Blake's Seven ought to return (it had a bit of a head start) ahead of this one. So, you'll have at least one classic British SF show back.

Maybe the long drought in the British SF film/TV industry is at an end?

It is all very fine and proper to wonder who will play the good Doctor; but I know a man of Nick's temperament will second me when I say that the really pressing issue is who will play the Doctor's winsome female companion?

I have low-hopes for a new Blake's 7. I am worried they may ruin it with things like better special effects and such.

As for the new companion... I had not even thought of that. Now I shall be tormented with curiosity. I vote for Amita Dhiri. Also, Shirley Henderson. No... that would be too good to be true.

Tom Baker was phenomenal but I grew up with the John Pertwee Doctor. A profound influence on the life and thought of a Flea.
