How to make a Savile Row Suit - with Anderson & Sheppard

"Follow the making of a bespoke three-piece suit in the style of Savile Row at the helm of one of the best British tailors, Anderson & Sheppard. – Behind a drawn curtain, a master cutter takes an initial series of 27 measurements: 20 for the jacket, 7 for the trousers. From these measurements, the cutter fashions a pattern in heavy brown paper. At the cutter’s table, the cloth is cut in using heavy shears, and the many pieces of fabric are rolled for each garment into tiny packages, which await the tailors."

"Follow the making of a bespoke three-piece suit in the style of Savile Row at the helm of one of the best British tailors, Anderson & Sheppard. – Three tailors receive their bundles of fabric and set about deciphering the cutter’s notes. Three weeks after a client’s measurements have been taken, his suit will be reading for a first fitting. The jacket will have been put together with a minimal number of seams using cotton ‘basting’ thread, and will be prime for a next round of adjustments."

Undiscovered canonry

"The news has caused Shakespeareans to sit up and take notice."

For years scholars have debated what inspired William Shakespeare’s writings. Now, with the help of software typically used by professors to nab cheating students, two writers have discovered an unpublished manuscript they believe the Bard of Avon consulted to write “King Lear,” “Macbeth,” “Richard III,” “Henry V” and seven other plays.

Richard Sidey - Speechless | Great Bear Rainforest

Speechless | Great Bear Rainforest from GALAXIID on Vimeo.

"In this Speechless episode I spend time with two Spirit Bears, as they fish for salmon on a river deep in Canada's Great Bear Rainforest.

"In Gitga'at mythology, the creator, the Raven, asked the Black Bear to turn one in every ten cubs white to serve as a reminder of when the world was covered in ice.

"At the end of this short film, a Spirit Bear steps into a single ray of light that evades the dense canopy overhead. The bear's white fur catches the light, illuminating the bear in an otherwise dark setting, and depicts the name given to the white bear by the local Gitga'at First Nation - Moksgm'ol (Ghost Bear).

"Filmed by Richard Sidey with invitation from the Gitga'at First Nation."
