Appropriate military dress

No, I have not seen the new Star Trek film. Or the the Terminator movie. Or that other thing that came out recently that I was supposed to have seen. I have no good excuse as it is summer term but it is a scheduling problem nonetheless. I expect I shall see the new Harry Potter in a timely fashion.

I like the Trek reboot, but then I have long been of the opinion that Roddenberry's take on human nature (and human potential) was fundamentally flawed.

I didn't care for the Trek reboot. It was too rough, even taking into account the "parallel universe" schtick.

There were way to many glaring plotholes not to mention the uncharacteristic behaviour of familiar characters.

I realize that Starfleet isn't a "Military" organization per se, but everyone storming away from their posts when their feelings get hurt, a Cadet storming onto the bridge of the Fleet's flagship, and a Captain naming a third year Cadet the First Officer were enough to blow giant gaping holes in my willing suspension of disbelief.
