Nazi chic cosplay

In China, of all places; suggesting some folks are not clear on the concept.

Nazi cosplayers often don’t comprehend the historical implications of the uniforms they are wearing. When asked, they would respond with “We’re not racist, we just like the fashion. Really.” Nazi cosplaying occurs in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea, all places that though were directly involved with World War II didn’t experience the same impact of Nazi culture as the West or haven’t come to appreciate the sensitivity that Westerners may have towards Nazi imagery.

As wedding gear, it leaves something to be desired. Though in fairness, if you want to dress up as a bad guy - from Hellboy's Kroenen to the Red Skull to the entire Imperial officer corps - there are plenty of choices built around Nazi uniforms.

Chinasmack cite a number of manga and anime properties as the source of the fad including URDA: The Third Reich and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. I am not much for anime but the latter is a minor masterpiece.

Something in the water: Possibly directly related.
