It's absurd, it's profane!

Battina-the-Hidden.jpg

Objections are raised to The 99, superheroes whose powers echo the ninety-nine attributes of Allah (via Gates of Vienna).

"These are not the types of heroes you want your children to have," Ted Baehr, publisher of MOVIEGUIDE," told WND today. "These heroes, at their core, because they represent values contrary to humanity, at the core these heroes are more villain than hero."
...
The New York Post ran a column describing plans for the Shariah-compliant Muslim superheroes – "including one who fights crime hidden head-to-toe by a burqa."

That would be Battina the Hidden. At first it seems grotesque; then you realize it was inevitable.

No word on how thinly disguised the Jewish supervillains are going to be.

Also inevitable: Christian family man Barack Hussein Obama gives a shout out to The 99.

Related: Not sure why the presenter thinks "ninety" is pronounced "ninee". There are glottal stops and there is baby talk. This is baby talk.

Second look at... the Mongol Horde!

Are you kidding? These shows will be full of win, just as Jack Chick comics are full of hilariousness.

1) Everyone gets to peek "behind the veil" as it were, and see the values they want transmitted to the kids.

2) They will inevitably be ripe for mockery, a la Jack Chick comics or those old "Davey and Goliath" stop-motion animation shows.

Viewed in this light, I can see it has potential.

Plus the Snidely Whiplash moustache drawn on Battina the Hidden's niqab is pure gold.

That is the second time today you have cheered me up.

I loves me some religion, but you know there isn't a faith in all the Earth that hasn't taken a neat kid-friendly concept and turned it into something powerfully lame and uncool.

And you just know the first Muslim kid to show up to any given Middle Eastern madrassa wearing their favourite Muslim superhero costume will get beaten within an inch of their life by the authorities.

Nothing says "sign me up" like religious superheroes you're forbidden to emulate.

I'm thinking CENTCOM and CIA need to pour tons and tons of money into this, if not start their own "dark horse" (huhuh huh huh) comic.
